Kent Region Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative
This project, which was established in the Kent Region in 2002 to address challenges
facing youths in rural areas, includes a wide range of entrepreneurial activities
based out of the local school system. It is also important to note that
the activities are not strictly reserved to students in entrepreneurial classes
and that the invitation is extended to all the student population. Therefore,
every student will have the chance to discover entrepreneurship.
The mission of the Initiative is “to help young people develop self-confidence,
achieve economic stability and their goals while contributing to the community
through self-employment and job creation.”
Generally, youths represented range from 14 to 35 years old. The Youth Development Officer is the person that oversees the development of the Initiative. However, a Coordination Committee, made up of local youths, teachers and entrepreneurs, participates in the development of the Initiative to insure the project’s success. The Coordination Committee members meet four times a year in order to discuss the project’s orientation.
As you can see, our logo is very distinctive and representative of our region.
There are five main aspects to this logo. First, the four pieces of the
puzzle represent the four Kent region high schools. Second, these pieces form
the shape of the Kent region. Third, the light bulb represents business ideas.
Fourth, the star represents success and finally, the hand reaching for the star
signifies going towards success and not being afraid to forge ahead. Therefore,
with all its colors and forms, this logo represents the dynamism and entrepreneurial
spirit of the youths in the Kent region.
